It’s business as usual following news reports of a fire at Bairds Grantham Maltings.

Bairds Malt confirmed there was a fire in the early evening of the 29th of January at its maltings on Springfield Road, Grantham.

All personnel were accounted for immediately the fire was identified. There were no injuries. The fire brigade was called and attended site very quickly. They extinguished a fire associated with one piece of equipment quickly and prevented any significant damage to the rest of our silo building.

Dr Richard Broadbent, Production and Technical Director for Bairds Malt Ltd said: “Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the fire but at this time we can say there is no major damage to our plant and we envisage no significant business interruption.

“Bairds Malt would like to thank the fire service for their timely attendance to site.”
