Supplied by featured Hopunion Grower Sodbuster Farms, Inc. Crystal was developed in 1983 from German Hallertau and Cascade, Brewers Gold and Early Green , making it a half-sister of Mt. Hood and Liberty. Primarily grown in Oregon Crystal has low alphas and high myrcene levels that makes it an ideal aroma hop. Mild, spicy (cinnamon, black pepper and nutmeg) and floral, it is considered the most pungent of the new triploid Hallertau family. Crystal is unusual in that its beta acid fraction can exceed its alpha acids.
