This open pollination aroma variety takes its name from the Ahtanum, where the Yakima Valley’s first hop farm was planted in 1869. Sharing similarities to Cascade and Amarillo it has lower alpha levels allowing for the addition of citrus, grapefruit notes without overly imparting bitterness. 

Suitable for: American Ales, Pale Ale, IPA, Lager
Substitutes: Amarillo, Cascade
Disease: Tolerant to Downy Mildew and Peronospera
Alpha: 3.5 - 6.5%
Beta: 4 - 6%
